Moss was born February 13, 1977. He is an American footballer. He was a player
in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 years with the Minnesota Vikings,
Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and the San Francisco
49ers. He is widely acknowledged as Jerry Rice's greatest wide receiver. He
holds the NFL single-season record for touchdown receptions of 23 in 2007. the
NFL rookie single-season touchdown records (17 in 1998) and is ranked second on
the NFL's all-time regular-season touchdown receptions list, with 156. Moss was
well-known for his skill at securing contested catch and "mossed" is
now a term used in football. He started his career as a studio analyst with
ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown and Tuesday Night Countdown shows. Moss was born at
Rand, West Virginia. He attended DuPont High School. It was one of two schools
which later became Riverside High School. There was a great player in
basketball, football, baseball, track, and other sports. Randy was also a
member of the school's debate club. Moss was a DuPont Panthers' football player
that led them to back-to-back states championships in 1992 and 1993. Moss was
an outstanding wide receiver however, he also played free safety returning kickoffs
and punts, as well as was the team's punter and kicker. He was honored with the
Kennedy Award in 1994 as West Virginia's Football Player of Year. Parade
magazine named him to their All-American high-school football team in 1995 and
in 2009 his name was named one of the 50 most outstanding high school football
players ever.
